GSTN launches Multistate Registration facility to apply for GST registration in several States/UTs under one PAN
A new GST portal facility lets Normal Taxpayers apply for registration in multiple States/UTs at once, using one Master TRN and common registration information.
The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) issued an advisory dated 1 October 2026 titled "Advisory on 'Multistate Registration' Facility for GST Registration". It introduces a new option on the GST Common Portal.
What changed
- A "Multistate Registration" tab has been added to the Common Portal homepage. Applicants select the required States/UTs and a Master TRN is generated.
- Using the Master TRN, the applicant gives the Common Registration Information (CRI) once. This covers business details, promoter/partner details, authorised signatory, authorised representative, and goods and services.
- The Master TRN must be submitted within 15 days.
- After the CRI is submitted, an individual TRN is generated for each selected State/UT. The common information is auto-populated and remains editable.
Who it affects
Taxpayers seeking GST registration in more than one State/UT under the same PAN. For now, the facility is available only for Normal Taxpayers.
What businesses should do now
- Businesses registering in several States/UTs can use the Multistate Registration tab instead of filing separate applications.
- Keep the common details ready so that the Master TRN is submitted within 15 days.
- In each individual TRN, complete the Principal Place of Business, Additional Place of Business, State-specific information and Aadhaar authentication.
